Trig points, or trigonometrical stations to give them their proper name, are a common sight and much-loved feature of Britain’s hills. Constructed between 1936-1962 as part of the Ordnance Survey’s retriangulation of Great Britain, this logbook is your ideal hiking companion as you ‘bag’ them all in Northumberland.
This logbook contains all 152 trig pillars to be found in Northumberland – including those which lie in the Cheviots. Covering up to the Scottish border as far down as the Derwent Reservoir along the border of County Durham, along Hadrian’s Wall and up the beautiful Northumberland coast, Trig pillars are found in the most unusual locations!
All the trig pillars in this book are easy to find – with a county-wide map showing all their locations as well as comprehensive contents pages ordered by height ascending and alphabetical order so you can easily find your next target trig! What’s more, each trig point page has it’s exact OS Grid reference included as well as a QR code you can scan to open a map of the trig point on your phone and plan your trek.
The challenge is to plan your route, bag your trig pillar and complete all 152 of them!
Perfect for logging all your adventures to look back on for years to come.
